Spytify Tutorial: Rip Spotify Songs Without Losing Audio Quality

Spytify is a free Windows tool that records audio from the Spotify desktop app in real-time, automatically splitting the recordings into individual MP3 or WAV tracks while stripping out advertisements.

Unlike standard “downloaders” that rip tracks using lower-quality audio from YouTube, Spytify records directly from your local sound card. This ensures that your offline files perfectly replicate the exact audio stream coming from Spotify.

Before getting started, please be aware that using Spytify technically violates Spotify’s Terms of Service. To prevent any risk of your primary account getting flagged or suspended, it is highly recommended to create and use a completely fresh, secondary Spotify Free account for recording purposes. Important Requirements

Operating System: Windows (requires Microsoft .NET 4.6.1 or higher).

Apps: The official Spotify Desktop application. It will not work with the Spotify web player.

Virtual Audio Cable (Recommended): Installing a free VB-Audio Virtual Cable or similar routing software allows Spytify to isolate Spotify’s audio. This means you can record songs silently in the background while still using your computer for other tasks. Step-by-Step Guide to Use Spytify 1. Install and Set Up Spytify Navigate to the official Spytify GitHub Repository.

Go to the releases section, download the Spytify-vX.XX.zip package, and extract it on your computer.

Launch the Spytify.exe application. (Note: Windows SmartScreen may show an “Unknown Publisher” warning; you will need to click “More Info” and “Run Anyway” to proceed). 2. Configure Your Settings

Before you start recording, customize your preferences inside the Spytify dashboard:

Output Path: Select the folder on your hard drive where you want your offline music files to be saved.

Audio Format: Choose MP3 for better compatibility across devices, or WAV if you want uncompressed files.

Audio Quality: Spotify Free streams at a maximum of 160kbps. If you choose 320kbps on a free account, the software will upscale it, but the baseline quality remains 160kbps.

Metadata (ID3 Tags): Leave the metadata option enabled. Spytify will automatically scrape the song titles, artists, track numbers, and high-quality album art from Last.fm or Spotify’s API, embedding them cleanly into your new offline files.

Mute Ads: Ensure the “Mute Ads” or ad-blocking toggle is turned on. This skips recording commercial breaks completely. 3. Start Recording

Open your Spotify Desktop App and log into your secondary account. In Spytify, click the Start button.

Go back to Spotify and begin playing the playlist or album you want to save. Make sure to hit start in Spytify before playing the song so it doesn’t capture the music mid-track.

Spytify will listen in real-time. When a song ends, Spytify senses the silence, finishes compiling the MP3/WAV file, tags it, and waits seamlessly for the next track to start.

Because the process happens in real-time, many users prefer to load up a massive playlist and let Spytify run overnight. When you wake up, your folder will be full of perfectly organized, ad-free tracks.
